Smithson Valley Thanks Hill Country Chamber By Claudette Cozzi, SVHS Art Teacher On Thursday, May 12 a wonderful event took place at the State Bank and Trust in Bulverde. It was an opening reception for an art exhibit, which highlighted the work of Smithson Valley advanced art students. It was a shining moment for many students who are not accustomed to public recognition. Proud parents and teachers shared the moment as well. The comments expressed by attendees were extremely positive and demonstrated to all of us the importance the Arts play in our daily lives. Too rarely in our public school settings do art students have an opportunity to share their expressive visions with the community. When organizations such as the Hill Country Chamber of Commerce and The State Bank and Trust join to provide such a wonderful event for our students, all of us benefit. The students got a wonderful taste of what their future as artists might hold-including sales!
